Trump invites Israeli hostage to the White House

President Trump invited a liberated Israeli hostage to the White House after shocked by his interview with stomach after 16 months in Hamas captivity.

Eli Sharabi, who has been released last month after his attitude of the Palestinian terrorist group since October 2023, should meet with President Trump on Tuesday, his brother Sharon told the Israeli newspaper Haaretz on Sunday.

Trump expanded the invitation to Sharabi and other hostages after showing clips of his shattering interview, in which he described his torture and hunger.

Sharabi described that he was chained, beaten and starved by his kidnappers, with the treatment worsened every time the Israel leader announced in an interview with Israel's channel 12 the deterioration of the prison conditions of the prisoner Hamas fighter.

“Excerpts from the program were shown by Trump with English subtitles and he was shocked,” Sharabi's brother told the Israeli outlet.

The President compared Sharabi and the other two former hostages with “Holocaust survivors” because the trio was freed from Hamas last month.

Trump's invitation “is inspiring. It warms the heart that Trump understands urgency. I hope the meeting helps to bring the hostage home, ”said Sharon.

Sharabi and the other hostages will travel to Washington DC, an Israeli American and Major Trump donor on the plane by Miriam Adelson, his brother said.

“Monday morning we get on the plane with Ms. Adelson's friendly help. We will arrive to see Trump and explain it from the urgency, to continue the first stage or to start the second stage [of the ceasefire] – It doesn't matter, ”said Sharon and referred to the shaky ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

Sharabi's kidnapper first shot his dog and killed his wife and teen daughters before kidnapping him with his brother Yossi from his house in Kibbutz Be'eri on October 7, said his family.

He only discovered that his wife Liann and her daughters Noiya and Yahel had been murdered after his release.

Yossi was killed in Gaza last year after the Israeli army had decided to build a building near the place where he was recorded, said the Israeli military.

Sharabi lost 40% of his body weight, while the times of Israel reported in captivity.

He was released as part of the first phase of a ceasefire contract, in which 29 more hostages and the corpses of eight Israelis returned to the country.

A total of 59 hostages of terrorist groups are kept in the Gaza Strip.
