Adam Boehler, Trump's candidate as a special officer for Geisel, had direct discussions with Hamas. Boehler, founder and CEO of Rubicon Founders, an investment company for the healthcare system, was a senior negotiator of the Abraham agreement during Trump's first term that tried to recognize Israel more comprehensively in the Arab world.

The talks that took place last month mainly focused on the publication of American hostages and a potential end of the war without Hamas at power in Gaza, according to a civil servant of Hamas, who was not justified to comment publicly and talked about the condition of anonymity.

The official added that no progress was made, but “the step itself is promising” and further discussions are expected. The Egyptian and Qatarian mediators helped arrange the conversations.

The direct commitment takes place because the continuation of the Israel-Hamas caffeine is uncertain.
