Tuskegee University completes security improvements after mass shootings

Tuskegee, ala. (WSFA) – Almost four months after A Mass shooting On the campus of the University of Tuskegee, civil servants say that security improvements have been completed.

The school has installed automated entry -level arms on three goals with ID and carried out other safety adjustments.

The Lincoln Gate is now used for pupils, visitors, tour buses and school buses. The brimmer goal is used for delivery and construction vehicles.

Faculty and employees can use the gates of Lincoln and Brimmer or the Franklin Road Gate.

Tuskegee University announced for the first time changes to its security procedures on campus A day after The fatal shooting from November 2024.

“I promised in November that this campus offer the security and security that our students and parents expect,” said Dr. Mark A. Brown, President and CEO of the university. “Control of access to the campus is only a step in our full plan.”

Visitors must continue to access the visitor center to get a temporary pass. An online form stands to fill out in advance.

According to university officials, access to the Badge is expanded to include all buildings on campus that are based on the assigned role for employees or dormitory for students. Olivia Davidson Hall and Lewis Adams Hall have an important access to maps and cameras, a standard that the school says that now applied to all living areas.

Brown said that lighting on campus has also improved.

“If you now drive through the campus, you can see lights on the baseball field, the parking lot, the tennis courts and larger dark areas on the campus,” he said. “We will continue to work with our providers and Alabama power to provide additional permanent lighting throughout the campus.”

Additional projects should be completed later this spring, The school said.
