UNLV one of 45 institutions that are examined for violations of civil rights

Las Vegas (KTNV) – The US Ministry of Education appointed UNLV under 45 universities across the country on Friday, which were examined for potential violations of civil rights.

According to a press release that was sent to Channel 13 on Friday, the Ministry of Education claims that these universities have violated title VI of Civil Rights Act by working with an organization called the PhD Project called the PhD project.

The Ministry of Education claims that the PhD project limits the authorization for its resources based on the racing of the participants. According to his website (founded in 1994), “encourages and supports the organization that underrepresented historically underrepresented candidates on their journey to acquire a doctoralist.”

The department indicates that these investigations have been made after sending a letter to the educational institutions financed by federal funds. The letter sometimes says: “Although some programs can appear neutral in their face, a closer look shows that they are actually motivated by racist considerations. And racial -based decisions, regardless of the form, remains inadmissible.”

In violation of title VI, institutions could lose federal funds, the department stated.
