Unusual March -Waldfeuer -Tahr calls for the early start to the Alaska burning approval season

From March 17, the state firefighters will require combustion permits in large parts of SouthCentral and Southeast -Alaska from March 17th after a connection on Thursday, in which he declared an early start to the fire season.

Warm weather and low snow cover in parts of the state arranged the command that moves the usual start of the season on April 1, the officials say. The emergency declaration of public order requires combustion permits for state, private and municipal areas in certain areas during the fire season that extends until August.

The parts of the state with an increased risk of fire include MAT-SU, the Copper River Basin and Valdez, the Kenai Peninsula and Kodiak, McGrath and parts in the southwest of Alaska and all of the southeast.

State and federal firefighters warn that the lack of snow and above -average temperatures have caused a risk of a forest fire that could easily spread on the floor in dry grass.

The National Interagency Fire Center published a report on Monday, in which a report is predicted by an upper order potential for significant forest fires from April to May “in large parts of the south of Alaska” before the risk is expected to be normal again until June.
