Update: 78-year-old woman dies in Onalaska Fire

One person is dead in a house fire in Onalaska on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire brigade chief of Onalaska, Pete Fletty, said in a statement that they were called to Franklin Street 2428 at 3:30 p.m.

When the crews started fighting the fire, others went into the house to look for someone. One person was released. Rescue providers said the person was declared dead at the scene.

On Friday morning, Chief FLLLLETY said that the victim was identified as Sheila Panke, 78.

It took less than 40 minutes to get the fire out.

Onalaska was supported by a motor of the fire brigade in Holmen.

The house had what Chief FLLLLETY said that it was considerable damage due to fire, smoke and water.

Nobody else was hurt.

The state firefighter's office helped the incident.

One cause of the fire is still being examined.
