* Update* The examination is continued in the supermarket of Gloucester in fires

Gloucester -fire chief Eric Smith, chief of police Edward Conley and Mayor Greg Verga, would like to update the Gloucester community in a city food business through an incident.

On Friday, March 14th, around 8:23 p.m., the first aiders received a call for a fire in the market basket, 101 Gloucester Crossing Road. Firefighters discovered two separate fires on arrival: one in the storage room, another in the box compactor. The fire were put down until 9 p.m.

The business is now open after passing several inspections of the Ministry of Health and the construction department. It was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected overnight, and all affected food and packaging were rejected.

“I am grateful to our capable fire brigade and mutual auxiliary partners for their efficient work last night to reduce this fire. It remains to be ensured that our residents have access to safe and high -quality food, especially in view of the latest news in our community. I am relieved that the business quickly met the requirements of the Ministry of Health and is open again, ”said Mayor Greg Verga. “I have full confidence in our civil servants of public security and grateful that nobody was injured during the incident.”

An investigation of the fire is continued with the support of the Gloucester police and the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit, which is connected to the office of the state firefighter.
