US music subscriptions cross 100 million when digital downloads fall

According to the latest sales report by the Record Industry Association of America (RIAA), business is still booming for music streaming services that exceeded the 100 million US subscriber brand in 2024. The total turnover was also strengthened by physical media, which grows somewhat faster than digitally, which is largely growing thanks to the constant increase in vinyl sales.

“Paid subscriptions, advertising services, digital and tailor-made radio, social media platforms, digital fitness apps and others rose by 4% to record sales of $ 14.9 billion,” writes RIAA. That is about half a billion dollars more than the attitude of the previous year.

In the meantime, Vinyl, which in the third time in a row, recorded growth of 7 percent and has now sold CDs, drew 1.4 billion US dollars of a total of 2 billion US dollars that were spent on physical media. The CD turnover rose by one percent and earned 541 million US dollars for the year. The digital downloads were 14.9 percent last year and only made two percent of the overall acceptance.
