Utoledo medical students celebrate the match day on March 21st


Medical students in the fourth year at the University of Toledo will learn their stays on Friday, March 21st, during the annual Match Day celebration.

More than 150 medical students only take part in the event for invitations, which begins at 11:30 a.m. in the Stranahan Theater. The students open up envelopes that contain their individual residence position information at noon.

“This is an exciting and very important milestone for our students,” said Dr. Imran Ali, Dean of the College of Medicine and Life Sciences. “The match day is a highlight of all the hard work that these incredible people have done together with our faculty and our employees in the past four years. The way to the doctor is not easy, but we know that our students are well prepared to take this next step and start your place of residence. “

Residents are licensed doctors who look after patients under the supervision of the lawyers of doctors, while they continue to train in their selected specialties.

Medical students in the fourth year spend a significant time interview for residency positions with programs across the country. The students rate their top goals and the Residency program sets their top selection of students.

A computer algorithm managed by the nationally based matching program then corresponds together with students and residency programs.

Last year, 163 medical students in 19 different medical specialties in 19 different medical specialties.

Depending on the specialty, the Residency training lasts three to seven years.
