Video by Man Swinging puppies leads to arrest

Honolulu (Hawaiinewsnow) – The Honolulu police have made an arrest after a man was caught in front of the camera and swung a puppy in Waianae through his hind legs.

The Hawaiian Humane Society published photos of the suspect, who went with the dog when he tried to become free.

The police said that the 22-year-old was booked on Tuesday on suspicion of the cruelty of a second degree and an arrest warrant.

The group K9 Kokua shared a photo of the puppy that was now in the hands of a trustworthy rescue partner.

We were told that the puppy is safe and is seen by a veterinarian.

Chantell Moniz leads the non -profit organization as Hina's Legacy Rescue Foundation, which focuses on discovering animal abuse and raising awareness.

She said HNN that a supporter with professional experience could track down the de -escalation of situations for tips from the community.

“There was a person who got the puppy out of the perpetrator and removed them and brought them to the vet,” said Moniz.

“There is no chip. We don't know where this person brought them from. “

But even with an arrest, there are concerns that the suspect can go on strike again because the crime is an offense.

The state representative Darius Kila sponsors a legislative template that would increase some crimes of the offense, such as the deliberate death of an animal. That would increase the minimum sentence in the conviction.

“You know that the laws we have about the book do nothing,” said Kila.

“We can always charge you with the crime, but then it goes into law enforcement and goes to beat on the wrist.”

HB-698 will decide a full house coordination next week. If it is adopted, it will go to the Senate.
