A number of burglaries in local companies last week will be examined in the East Broadway Street in South Boston.

The Paramount is a local dinner that is known for its good food and its neighborly atmosphere, but on Thursday evening a man supposedly broke out in the back door and came with hundreds of dollars in pointed.

“It is difficult enough to run a small company alone, but if you have crazy people who break up and damage their ownership and damage and destroy it, it makes it a bit more difficult,” said Dan Conlon, Manager of Paramount. “He tried to break into our safe. When he broke in for the first time, he used a crowbar. He could not use a crowbar to try to break into our safe, and he came back with a shovel to try to use a shovel. We were lucky that he was unable to get in with a shovel.”

Recorded on surveillance video

The monitoring video from the restaurant shows the alleged burglar, which repeatedly defeats the safe.

When he noticed the surveillance camera in the corner, he also tried to meet it. “He tried to destroy the evidence by damaging our cameras and the television monitors in our office,” said Conlon.

This film material was handed over to investigators from the Boston police department. The investigators said that the thief had successfully broken into two registers and took out the company's Internet.

Conlon said that at least two other companies have also been broken into the same section of the East Broadway in the past few days. “This is a great neighborhood,” said Conlon, “and to see something like it happens, it's just something you don't want to see.”

The police in Boston said that they would examine this slump and asked the public to call them under (617) 343-4742 if they had information about the burglaries or the man in the surveillance video.
