Village Florida to stop elections, March 18

On March 18, from 12 noon to 9 p.m., the residents of the Florida village will vote to fill two trustees and a seat of the village of Justice. The choice takes place in the senior center, which is located near the library and the police station on Cohen Circle. The candidates who run for trustees are the incumbent Alyssa Werner and Matthew Roach, both of whom run unhindered for a further term of four years. The sole village candidate is Peter D. Barlet, who also runs unhindered to maintain his seat for another four -year term.

The trustees' candidates were asked to deliver a little about their experiences and goals for the coming year. Your processed answers are below.

Alyssa Werner

I have proudly served as a Village faithower since 2020 and are looking for a re -election. In my current runtime as a trustee, I received a scholarship of almost 1 million US dollars for parking and water catchment area protection land acquisitions, a UV disinfection system in the sewage plant and a fully financed new basketball/pickleball area. In 2021 I worked closely with our water technicians and engineers to carry out the pilot study for the water treatment plant, and I am proud that the project for the water treatment plant is underway.

My goals for my next term are the completion of the water treatment plant this year, the new grants, additional wastewater systems -upgrades, additional parking spaces in the village hall, completion of sidewalks, Route 94 replacement for water lines and hopefully a revitalization project in the city center, when we are awarded scholarship. I work closely with the Chamber of Commerce and other groups to make this the best possible community. In recent years I have listed the village's Easter egg search, the 9/11 monument and the Christmas tree lighting.

I am the fifth generation in the village, a local business owner, member of the Chamber of Commerce and Mother, and I am busy doing the best for the village as a whole. I believe in public security and secure access for the fire brigade of Florida and other first aiders. I am responsible for tax purposes how village taxes kept low – consistently below 2%. I have a lot of goals and look forward to working hard to serve the village of Florida in my next term.

Matthew Roach

It is very worthwhile to have the opportunity to return something and maintain the quality of life and to provide the services that our villagers earn and expect. The past four years have passed quickly and I look forward to being able to represent and serve the community for the next four years. I would like to continue to build on the priorities that I brought to election four years ago. The priorities that I sketched focused on offering our village a safe and sustainable water source, expanding and improving our parks and further improving the village of Main Street and at the same time maintaining tax responsibility for the residents of Florida.

In cooperation with the board, we have made progress in these areas because the development in our new water treatment plant is underway. Maintaining the Glenmere Lake as a sustainable long-term water source, the provision of our new basketball/pickle balls, the overall improvement of our parks, the expansion of parking in the senior center from spring and the expansion plans for the sidewalk for 2025 are just a few of the many initiatives that are completed or planned. The board worked hard to access funds and give opportunities to support these initiatives and achieve improvements for our village.

Over the next four years, I endeavor to bring my focus on the most important priorities described above and the current projects. I look forward to being your representative and voice in the next four years and being accessible to the residents of the village.
