Vols set the program record with three Grand slams in the same game

Reese Chapman, Andrew Fischer and Blake Grimmer met the Grand Slams on Tuesday evening when Tennessee opened the first of 10 consecutive games in the Lindsey Nelson Stadium with a 22:9 strike from Radford in Sieben Innings.

The high -ranking volunteers produced three Grand slams in the same game for the first time, and they already have seven slams this season after they had set up a program record with 12 last year. The NCAA single season standard is 14.

“The fact that we were really solid against our boys every day in autumn-a kind of bats, they were really solid-they are preparing for such games,” Fischer then said in a press conference. “It doesn't surprise me that our boys beat well.”

Tennessee improved to 12: 0 by overwhelming the Big South Conference program and closing closer to his best start of all time. The Vols 2019 started 15-0, while the volumes started 13-0 in 2020 and 15-2 when their season was stopped by the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

Chapman's explosion to the right field appeared in the third inning and converted an unexpected 4: 2 deficit into a 6: 4 lead. The Vols would load the bases a second time in the third, with Dean Curley drawing a walk to do it 7-4, and Gavin Kilen in the middle to make it 9-4.

Radford then scored five runs in a row to knot the game until Hunter Ensley's two-out double with two in the fifth left of Curley when the Vols regained a 10: 9 advantage. Fischer achieved a stone-free double double in the right field line for an 11: 9 lead in the sixth.

The VOLs put the Highlanders away with an 11-run inning, which included Fischer and Grimmer slams, with Grimmer ending the game that used three hours and 43 minutes.

Nic Abraham, Michael Sharman and Austin Hunley each fought for Tennessee on the hill. Dylan Loy replaced Hunley with two outs in the fifth inning and withdrew all seven batteries with which he was equipped, including four from Strikeout.

“It was a bit of a stress reduction,” said Vols coach Tony Vitello. “You expect you to return home and take control of a game, and it wasn't there. Dylan certainly calmed the storm and gave us more outs than we expected.”

Tennessee was his worst enemy in the first two innings with a field error by Levi Clark on the first base and throwing and field errors from Curley in Shortstop, which enabled the Highlanders to take their 4-2 lead. Radford fell to 5-6 in the season and against the Vols on 0-7 ever. On Tuesday, her first Matchup has represented since 2009.

The Vols will be there again on Wednesday evening and organize Xavier at 6 a.m.
