Walker Buehler first looks dominant with Red Sox

Walker Buehler gave his spring training debut on Sunday and while he may be in a new uniform, his things are familiar.

The 30-year-old right-hander signed a one-year contract of $ 21.05 million with the Boston Red Sox this off-season and left the Los Angeles Dodgers after spending the first eight years of his career there. He saw his first campaign at Boston on Sunday and saw at home.

Buehler threw the first two innings against the New York Mets and looked dominant. In the first inn he allowed Jeff McNeil to open things to open things and then got a groundout from Francisco Alvarez before stretching out Jesse Winker on three parking spaces. Buehler hit Jose Siri on his first offer and met Alexander Canario on three parking spaces.

He was even better in the second inn. He struck Brett Batty, had Jared Young turned upside down and then joined Jose Azocar. Buehler threw two innings, allowed one goal and excluded four

This is an encouraging trip for the Red Sox. After his return from the Tommy John surgery, Buehler fought during the regular season last year. In 16 starts he went 1-6 with an ERA of 5.38 and 1.55 whip, which scored 64, but ran 28 in 75 1/3 Inning. In the off -season he looked much better when he went 1-1 in four appearances in four appearances with an ERA of 3.60, 1.13 and 13 strike outs in 15 inning rings. He received the rescue in game 5 of the World Series and set up the last inn when the Dodgers closed the New York Yankees to win the title.

While it is just a one -year business, the Red Sox make a steep financial investment in Buehler to expand a rebuilt rotation that now includes Garrett Crochet. You need it to turn things around this season. His first start was a positive step in this direction.
