Waymo One Operational around 37 square kilometers of Austin

Waymo confirmed the beginning of completely autonomous Robotaxi services in Austin via a social media contribution. According to Waymo, Uber users who request a Uber X, Uber Comfort, Uber Green or Uber Comfort Electric have the opportunity to choose and to vote with the autonomous vehicles from Waymo (if available).

Through the Uber app, the drivers will see options to unlock the doors of the Waymo One vehicle, open the trunk and start their journey as soon as they are inside.

Today's rollout results from a multi -year partnership between Waymo and Uber. Austin is the first market in which Uber Waymo vehicles performs and sends. It is therefore important to keep and see how everything goes and how the public reacts.

As already announced, the partnership with Uber also includes robotaxi extensions to the public in Atlanta, Georgia, later this year. As we reported in December 2024, Miami is also in the works for a rollout of 2026. While we are waiting for these extensions, you will find a film material from the Waymo One rollout in Austin.
