Weber State Softball could have allowed the good mood, from State No. 23 in San Diego State, about the following three-game gauntlet, but the Wildcats tournament ended with another solid victory.

The Wildcats survived Utah 6: 4 in eight Innerings on Sunday to end Judi Garman Classic organized by Cal State Fullerton and won eighth place with a Homer of two runs by Catcher Eva Richardson.

Cali McCraw threw all eight inns and allowed three deserved runs with seven goals, scored five and went three. Two of these strikes came with the extra-in-end lead and helped to beat the door on the utes in the lower edge of eighth place, even though he started second place with a runner via the tie-breaker rule.

Freshman Shortstop Sadie Kirk scored the goal in the first inn, her third explosion of the season. Kirk, Taegan Smith, Abby Grundy and Tori Rey each scored two goals in the victory.

Rey doubled in a run in the fifth and Grundy doubled two in sixth place for a 4: 3 lead. McCraw gave a solo shot to Sianni Sakai in Utah in the sixth and helped send the game to extras.

The victory was followed by three defeats through the top 10-ranking teams a defeat from 13: 3 against No. 10, 9-1 to No. 6 LSU, and a 26-5-demonstrating No. 4-UCLA.

With a win against Utah, the Wildcats are 6-14 and, although a good competition remains, the most difficult parts of their non-conference plan have gone through.

Next comes a series with four games in Colorado State in a couple of Doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. The RAMs are 7-12 and share some opponents with the WSU. The CSU lost 5: 2 against a UC San Diego team Weber 5: 3 and 10: 0 against Arizona. The RAMs also took a 7: 3 home loss against Big Sky Foe Northern Colorado.

After the trip to Colorado State, it is back to California for a tournament with five games, which will be held by Saint Mary's from March 14th to 16th. The wildcats will compete twice against the hosts Gaels (8-9), the Ivy League Foes Columbia (2-3) and Harvard (5-4) and Santa Clara (10-7).
