Wesleyan women slowly overcome Davis & Elkins

Buckhannon-Die West Virginia Wesleyaner Lady Bobcats used a dominant performance in the second quarter and an enormous effort of the second security guard Sydney Baird to come to Davis & Elkins College 62-45 on Saturday afternoon.

Despite a sluggish opening frame in which the Lady Bobcats (19-8, 13-7 MEC) rose from eight, the team recovered and exceeded the senators with 55: 30 in the last three quarters. Baird led the indictment with 28 points to lower three triple and make a perfect 9: 9 out of the free -wing line.

Davis & Elkins surprised the amount of home by jumping to a 15: 7 lead in the first quarter. Lachaacity Shaver scored three and ended with 11 points to set the sound, while striker Jackie Wright scored 15 rebounds.

It was quickly dissolved for the senators in the second quarter. Wesleyan's defense stiffened and kept Davis & Elkins only on two field goals during this time. In the meantime, Baird Feuer caught a trio of shots from beyond the arch, when the Lady Bobcats shouted with a 19-7 quarter, turned the script and took over a half in the lead of 26: 22.

Wesleyan's ability to get to the Free Wurfine proved to be central. The Lady Bobcats converted 21 of 23 (91.3%) from the strip, while Davis & Elkins had to deal with 11 out of 17 (64.7%). The aggressiveness of the home team in the color led to a 45-36 reduction in, with Emma Witt rose with 16 points and 9 rebounds.

The Lady Bobcats are now waiting in the upcoming Berg -Eeast conference tournament, which begins on Wednesday, March 5, in the Wesbanco Arena in Wheeling.
