What happens on February 26th? The viral Tikok trend explained

February 26, 2025. The day is here! And if you walk around for circles today after you have come across a viral video on the Internet, we have the tea for you here!

February, February 26th!

Everyone is talking about this Wednesday (February 26) as if it were very important, but as always nobody explains what it actually means.
If you were on TikTok this week, you've probably seen everyone to freak out a certain date – February 26th, today! After the tragic anglerfish story and these terrible Tikoks “Pov: You Wake Up”, it is the latest to become viral in the video app.
Somehow Thursday was converted into a little that is called “Slime Your Homie Day”, and by “mucus” we think we can betray someone or take advantage of someone.

The importance of the date:

Should everyone have their guard on February 26th? Could some be about quite unsavory things?
While it has nothing to do with Slime or Gunk, in this case slime is extensive for betrayal scales, while Homies are obviously slang for friends, most content creators treat the trend as a wit and they have fun to pretend that they prepare different plans.
Basically, it is a day to betray your friends or to set them up in a sneaky and illoyal way. Although it is not clear how far people are actually ready to go with it, people are freaking out that they are seriously confused.

The terminology:

Where does the term “slime your homeboy” come from?
Drake published a song with Sza called “Slime You Out” in 2024, which helped him be synonymous with a negative connotation. The entire Tikok trend seems to link to this track, which is about manipulating or taking advantage of someone for personal profit. It seems to have been started by a Tikok user named @notfromadonis who posted a video of himself and a friend last week. He wrote on the screen: “On February 26th Slime Ya HB”, and the video went with more than 6.2 million views mega viral.
Others then made videos about the fictitious trend and it spread like a running fire, took over Tikok and suddenly became this massive thing.

The mucus section:

TIKTOK user -Hyperstrids posted a video that refers to a Spruilex clip, from which he claimed he was the origin of the trend. According to hyperstrids, it means to push out their homeboy to “take it out and/or to betray it”.
It is just one of the virus trends that Tikok takes over at the moment, and the trend “Brother does not go home”, also makes the round. With the latest trends we have also seen how people used AI in different ways to present POV to various moments in history or what it is like to be a celebrity for the day.
In reality, however, nothing happens on February 26th. It is just a big stupid social media joke that has no sense at all.
