Before a Grand jury in Oklahoma had accused the Gateway Church Church Church Morris on a child due to five crimes on a child due to five crimes, the resignation of the senior pastor caused a sensation in his former community a year ago when his prosecutor carried out a suspected sexual abuse.

The Grand Jury with several counties charged the 63-year-old Morris for alleged sexual misconduct, which began in December 1982 and comprised a 12-year-old girl, said the General Prosecutor's Office in Oklahoma in a statement on Wednesday. According to the indictment, Morris started Christmas and lasted in the next four years.

“There can be no tolerance for those who sexually hunt children,” said General Prosecutor Gentner Drummond in an explanation. “This case is all the more detested because the alleged perpetrator was a pastor who took advantage of his position. In this case, the victim has waited far too many years that justice happened. “

Although the alleged crimes took place decades ago, the Attorney General said that the limitation period was not applicable in this case, since Morris was never a resident or resident of Oklahoma.

Morris' prosecutor, Cindy Clemishire, reported in June 2024 with the Wartburg Watch, a blog about sexual abuse in the church, the allegations in June 2024.

“After almost 43 years, Robert Morris has finally hit Robert Morris because of the terrible crimes he committed against me as a child,” Clemishire said in an explanation of the Oklahoman – part of the USA Today Network – after the indictment was published.

Morris was in the spiritual advisory board of President Donald Trump during his campaign and the first 2016 presidential period. He had no role in re -election effort from 2024, said Trump's campaign last year.

Here is what you know about the allegations against Morris and how you have led to his charges.

Cindy Clemishire claimed that Robert Morris sexually abused her from 1982 to 1987

In June blog, Clemishire said that she and her family were presented with Morris in a youth resuscitation in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 20 and she was 11 years old. At that time, Morris was a traveling evangelist with his wife Debbie.

Morris preached in Clemishires Church on Sundays, and sometimes he remained, Debbie and her son at the home of her family. She considered him “safe and friendly,” she said.

Her relationship changed forever at Christmas in 1982, when Morris asked a 12-year-old Clemishire at the time to “visit him in his room in his room”, according to the blog post. She remembered that she hadn't thought about it at that moment, but once in his room she said, he sexually misused her and warned her: “Tell anyone about it because it will ruin everything.”

Clemishire said the abuse lasted in Oklahoma and Texas until 1987. She finally told a good friend and her parents about the abuse, which meant that Morris reported reported from the ministry for two years, she explained in the blog.

When Clemishire questioned why she had brought up decades later, he said to USA Today: “I only trusted that God's timing would bring it everywhere where it had to go? Why hide?”

The first support of the Gateway Church by Robert Morris fades

When Clemishire initially came to light, the Gateway Church apparently supported its then senior pastor and, in an explanation, told WFAA TV that he “openly and openly had a moral failure that he had over 35 years ago” and “there were no other moral failures”.

“This situation was brought to light and it was stood and regretted,” said Morris in his own explanation. “I submitted myself to the oldest of the Shady Grove Church and the father of the young lady. They asked me to endure the ministry and to receive the Ministry of Consulting and Freedom, which I did. Since then I have been in purity and accountability in this area.”

The elders of the Texas Megachurch publish a later explanation after Morris's resignation and said: “We regret that we did not have the information we have now.”

“For the sake of the victim, we are grateful that this situation was exposed,” said the elders. “We know that many of them were affected, we understand that they are injured and we are very sorry. It is our prayer that healing for all those affected can occur in time.”

After his updated declaration, the Gateway Church broke down in detail from Morris and even went so far to recommend the resignation of the son and the daughter -in -law of the pastor, James and Bridget Morris.

“Pastor James Morris is a man of integrity, and he clearly explained that he had no knowledge of the true facts of this situation,” said the church in a Facebook post. “However, since Pastor James Morris is related to Robert Morris, Haynes and Boone recommended that Pastor James are also judged by the Board of Elders, and Pastor James voluntarily reported to demonstrate his commitment to a really independent and impartial investigation.”

The Gateway Church removes the oldest, AIDS criminal offense

In November, the Gateway Church announced the removal of several of its elders after the independent examination of a law firm against Morris allegations of children has sexual abuse. This announcement was made after the departures of Morris, his son, his daughter -in -law and Executive Pastor Kemtal Glasgow.

“What happened to Cindy Clemishire was heartbreaking and hideous,” said the oldest in the Gateway Church during a livestream service. “We condemn sexual abuse in all its forms and feel deep grief for those who have fallen victim to such detention -worthy actions.”

During the independent examination of Haynes and Boone, the law firm collected 780 gigabytes of data, checked thousands of pages with documents and interviewed dozens of people, with the exception of Morris and five others who sit down with them, said Willbanks.

According to Willbank, the law firm learned no further allegations of sexual attacks against Morris. After the investigation, Morris made “financial demands”, which led to pending legal disputes between him and the church, what Willbank said they rejected it.

Willbank also confirmed that the Gateway Church worked with a persistent criminal investigation, but did not share any further details at that time. He added that the church or its current leadership of this investigation was subject.

What's next for Robert Morris?

The indictment was submitted on Thursday in the Osage County District Court in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Morris is expected to deal there on Monday and give up his passport. Its bond was set at 50,000 US dollars.

If Morris is convicted in all five cases, he could have up to 100 years in prison.

The pastor once broadcast a television program that was broadcast in over 190 countries and broadcast its radio program in more than 6,800 cities.

His YouTube page, which is no longer online, had 80,000 subscribers and included videos entitled “Freedom through forgiveness” and “Did you know that they were made perfect by God's grace?”
