What we so far know about the investigation of the death of Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa

After the news of the legendary actor Gene Hackman and his wife, the pianist Betsy Arakawa, the celebrity tributes were found in their house in New Mexico.

The police say that the circumstances about the death of Hackman (95), Arakawa (65) and their German Shepherd were unusual, which fueled a lot of speculation online.

The authorities say that they do not suspect that a bad game was involved, has not excluded the possibility if they continue to research. So far we know the following.

When did you die?

Adan Mendoza, Sheriff of Santa Fe County, said reporters that Hackman and Arakawa “had passed away for a while” when the officials found them on Wednesday – possibly several days or “even up to a few weeks”.

The worker, the 911, and another worker, told the police that she rarely saw the couple and that their last contact with them was found about two weeks before.

How were they found?

According to the Sheriff's Office of the Santa Fe district, a maintenance worker contacted the neighborhood's security to carry out a social examination check after nobody answered the door when he appeared at home, a two-story stucco building in a gated community in Santa Fe.

A security officer saw a non -reacting woman on the ground through a window and called 911.

On Wednesday, two patrol members were sent into the house around 1:45 p.m.

According to an affidavit for the search order, the officials spoke to two maintenance workers who said they found the front door of the house in Ajar. However, the officials confirmed that the door was open on arrival, but said that they had not seen any signs of forced entry and that it was not “out of place” or was taken from home.

Inside, the deputies found the body of a man and a woman in separate rooms, both of whom suddenly seemed to have fallen.

The woman was found on the floor in a bathroom near a room heater, with a bottle of prescription pills on the worktop, while a man with a stick and a pair of sunglasses was nearby nearby, the authorities said.

The officials said they had also found a dead German Shepherd in a kennel in a bathroom cabinet, about “10-15 feet” from the woman. They also found two healthy dogs – one inside and one outside the house – and said that a dog door allowed them to enter and leave them.

The MPs secured the scene and informed the department for criminal investigations.

Due to the early suspicion that the deaths were caused by carbon monoxide poisoning, the fire brigade staff of Santa Fe City and the New Mexico Gas Company were called to test for carbon monoxide and “other foreign elements”.

The house was entered as safe, and at 9:30 p.m. a search command was carried out

How did the couple die?

According to the authorities, there are no obvious signs of a foul in this phase of the investigation.

However, the fire brigade found no signs of carbon monoxide leak or carbon monoxide leak or poisoning, and the gas company did not find any immediate evidence that indicates problems with the pipes.

The affidavit said the corpses showed no signs of blunt force trauma or wounds, but the police were still trying to confiscate blunt violent objects during the search order, and said that the circumstances around the deaths were “suspicious enough to request a thorough search and examination”.

The sheriff's office later said that the first autopsy results found that there was no external trauma for one of the two individuals.

The cause of death is determined by the medical investigator's office.

Carbon monoxide and toxicology test results are still pending, but can take several months.
