Welcome to the second of three days of the WPial basketball -semi -finals on Monday with young 6a, Boys 2a, Girls 4a and Girls A in the spotlight.

It becomes a post -season tradition -Upper St. Clair compared to Central Catholic in the young 6a semi -final.

The third year in a row marks their meeting on Monday, in which the Panthers and the Vikings collided in the last four. The winner took gold in the last two seasons.

In the semi-finals in 2023, Central Catholic drove to Upper St. Clair, 65-41.

Dante Depante had 25 points to guide the Vikings, which later hit the new castle in the WPIAL FINALE 61-52.

Last season the two met again at halftime, with Upper St. Clair 61-46.

Christian Ito led the Panthers with 17 points. The USC went to the final and drove past the Baldwin, 64-41.

• The 7 top teams in Boys 3a from the district will take part in the state playoffs, which means that both winning teams will win a berth, while the losing teams will later play in a victory-and-your game. On Monday, Shady Side Academy (10-13) will travel to Keystone Oaks (17-7), and Southhmoreland (18-6) at 7:30 p.m. Ellwood City (14-10) at 7 p.m.

• In Girls 3a, Keystone Oaks (20-3) and Avonworth (17-8) qualified for the state playoffs with consolation winners on Friday. The Golden Eagles organize the antelopes at 6 p.m. to determine which team no. 5 and which No. 6 of District 7 will be.
