  • The most popular time to visit Japan for cruises is between March and May during the cherry flower season, followed by mild weather and leaves from September to November.

If you have thought about a cruise to Japan, you are not alone.

According to the company, the interest of the Google search for cruises in the country in East Asia has increased higher compared to other cruise destinations.

The search for “Best Japan Cruises” rose by 273%last year, according to Google Trends data. “Japan Port Cruise” and “Cruises to Tokyo” also rose by 71%during this time.

Japanese cities like Tokyo and Osaka have had a higher interest in recent months, even for the spring holidays. Visiting cruise ship offers an easy way to see many parts of the country-and can even replace the long-haul flight from the USA

Travelers should know the following.

Which cruise lines sail in Japan?

According to Jared Feldman, owner of the travel agency Jafeldma Travel, more than a dozen cruise plates are said to sail in Japan in 2026. Princess Cruises will have a big presence among others like Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises.

For those who prefer smaller ships, brands such as Viking and Windstar Cruises also offer travel routes.

Where do Japan cruises go?

The popular stops include Tokyo, Kobe, Osaka, Naha on Okinawa Island and Hiroshima. Feldman said there is more than a dozen ports in Japan alone that are frequented by cruise ships.

Cruises from the country can also visit other destinations such as South Korea and Taiwan.

Transpacific cruises sail from US cities such as Seattle and Los Angeles and enable travelers to skip the long-haul flight (although they have to fly on the way back depending on the plans). Many places sail with more sea days than a typical cruise, said Feldman and could come with a cheaper rate.

“Similar to the cruise in Germany or on the cruise in this region (you have) everything from a four-sailing sailing to a two-week sail or three-week sail,” he added. “So there are definitely the travel routes of the Weekend type if you really only want to get a taste or taste of Japan, or you can spend much more time there.”

Travelers can also visit Japan on world cruises and other longer travel routes.

What is the best time to visit Japan?

Japan is a year -round goal, but Feldman said that the most popular time was between March and May when the cherry blossoms are exhibited. It follows September to November “Because you have mild weather, you will get full leaves there,” he said.

Feldman added that travelers will find fewer sails in winter, but there are still attractions during this time, such as snow festivals.

Are Japan cruises expensive?

In view of the offer and because it is not as popular as other cruise goals like the Caribbean, Feldman said the prices were “very attractive”.

For example, Princess's 2026 Japan Cruises currently begin at $ 1,297 per person based on double occupancy, including taxes and fees. The start of Celebrity at 1,581 US dollars.

However, travelers probably have to take flight prices into account. Roundrip flights from New York to Tokyo in January 2026 for a one-week trip, according to Google Fluts, currently start at $ 846 (flights for most of the 2026 were not yet available).
