Why the video of this lawyer 'Shut The F *** Up' has just become viral again

Bill Goodman's “Stfu” PSA (again) blows into the air, while gen z discovered the golden advice of a dead legend

Let us set the scene: a pebble, voiced, 80-year civil rights symbol stares into the camera and drops this jewel: “If you are arrested, close the F** high. Don't talk to the police. Do not explain. Do not argue. Only stfu. ”* Cue the Internet that loses its mind.

This PSA from 2021 – created by the Detroit National Lawyers Guild with Goodman and lawyer Denise Heberle – collects millions of TikTok views againBecause the dead and politics of the Trump era of irony are back.

The powerful, no-bullshit atmosphere of the video is Reiner Goodman: A man who sued President (Bush) for more than 50 years (Stop-and-Fissk) and incorrectly frees femal teenagers (Central Park five neighboring cases);

Why is it everywhere

  • The biting changes to the clip and Goodman's “Angry Grandpa” energy make it first -class gene food and something like a meme masterpiece. Hashtags like #Knowyourrigths and #stfulawyer trend as children recognize constitutional rights> punch.
  • And since Trump rises again in office care agencies and the level of the federal police in 2021, Goodman's 2021 warning feels prophetic. His “Shut Up” mantra is now a protest gospel.
  • Goodman died in 2023, but the revival of the video (and his Attica/Flint/Guantánamo -Cred) turns it into a posthumous folk hero. Colleagues like Jack Schultz call it “Bill 101: blunt, funny and legally airtight”.

Goodman was not just a Tikok flash. Dude was a co-founder of Detroits Sugar Law Center, sued Flints poisoned water and the repeated Attica prisoner after the effort-gaining pardon for thousands. Oh, and he looked after half of Michigan's civil rights bar while he tyrann after September 11th after September 11th.

His crowning glory? “Stfu” like legal poems sound.
