Wilmington Fire

Wilmindton, NC (Wect) – The Wilmington Fire Department (WfD) welcomes a new dog (CRFD) in the crisis reaction (CRFD).

Milo and his handler join the program on mental health and wellness, which WFD and Paws4people have created to help firefighters and residents during and after emergencies.

“The aim of the program is to support the de -escalation of stress according to the aspect, to facilitate the tension on the ward, reduce the anxiety, reduce the long -term effects of PTSD and to improve cardiovascular health. In addition, interior dogs offer comfort in emergency situations, both in the department and at the crime scene in the community, to facilitate the burden of people who are affected by the trauma, ”WfD wrote in a media publication.

The program is currently using CRFDS Heart, Axel, Jethro and Clyde. Like the other CRFDs, Milo will work on the fire station in his layer and go home with his firefighter.
