Wisconsin Better Business Bureau gives tips on avoiding “Ghost Tax Preparaters” | News

Madison, Wis. – The deadline for submitting your taxes is less than a month away, and the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau (BBB) warned on Tuesday of “Ghost Tax PRARERS”.

“Ghost Tax Preparaturers” – as BBB calls it – is a person who is not certified but is still preparing tax returns. The person asks the taxpayer to sign the forms before submitting to the Internal Revenue Service so that it was submitted herself. If there is a problem and something goes wrong, the taxpayer looks guilty of the IRS.

The BBB has given six tips on how to avoid becoming a victim.

  1. Be careful with people who offer quick reimbursements or large returns
  2. Do not sign your own tax return if a tax advisor asks you
  3. Check your tax return
  4. Just allow money to be included in your personal accounts
  5. On the BBB website you will find symptoms and reviews of tax services in your region
  6. Register ghost preparations
