World record breaker duplantis returns to Eugene

The world record holder of the Swedish Pole Vault, Mondo Duplantis, will continue his Wanda Diamond League campaign on July 5th in the Protaine Classic in Eugene.

Mondo Duplantis will return to two of his world records when he appears at the ninth Wanda Diamond League of the season at the Protaine Classic in Eugene.

Duplantis has already been confirmed in Xiamen and Shanghai for the first two meetings of the season and will continue his search for a fifth Diamond League title if he goes to Hayward Field on July 5.

The 24-year-old is already considered the largest male stammering vula of all time after having broken the world record no less than 10 times since 2020.

The fifth world record in its progress occurred in Eugene at the 2022 World Athletics Championships Oregon22 with a jump of 6.21 m, and his seventh world record took place in the same stadium in the 2023 Wanda Diamond League final with a jump of 6.23 m.

The current world record of the Swedish star is 6.26 m, a height that he removed last August at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Silesia.

Duplantis has also claimed two Olympic gold medals and two world championship titles in the past five years.

A fifth Diamond League title in 2025 would only bring him to two of the records seven of his friend and pole vault Renaud Renaud Lavillenie from France.

As in previous years, the Wanda Diamond League will also offer the backbone of its season, since the Swede looked at a third world championship title in Tokyo in September.

The Wanda Diamond League is the Elite One-Day Meeting series in Global Athletics. It comprises 15 most renowned events in global athletics. Athletes fight for points at the meetings of the 14 series to qualify for the two-day Wanda Diamond League final, which will take place on August 27 and 28, 2025 in Zurich.
