Young people arrested, accused of shooting near the Akins Early College High School

At a shootout near the Akins Early College High School at the beginning of this week, a student with life -threatening injuries were left behind, and the authorities have now taken two young people in custody.

The suspects were identified as the current Akins student and former student.

“At the moment, at this point in the investigation, we only know that it was a verbal argument between the victim and the suspect with the weapon,” said Detective Bryan Pietrowski, Detective of Austin Police Department.

Pietrowski listed the age of the suspects at the age of 14 and the age of the victim at the age of 17.

He says that one of the suspects of serious charges for assault is exposed to the other illegal wearing of a weapon.

The police chief of Austin ISD, Wayne Sneed, emphasized the importance of vigilance and compliance with security protocols on campus.

“These are cases that we hope that they will never happen in our communities,” said Sneed. He assured that increased police presence in school would continue, although the duration remains indefinite.

The officials of Austin ISD stated that there were no plans to implement a clear BAG directive and found that the incident had taken place outside the campus. The authorities ask everyone to contact the police with information about the investigation.
