Ogden – Two games in the regular season, Ben Lomond Boys volleyball is his first effort when the school started a program a year ago.

In the fourth set of the Home Opener on Wednesday, Scots Senior Emanii Jackson and Junior Spencer Sartor set a 16: 7 run and won a victory over Bear River. BL (2-0) opened the season on Monday with Northhridge in four sets on the street.

BL won the opening couple just under 27-25 and 25-23 before giving up the third set 25-22 to the bears (0: 1) to reach a quick comeback and force the Scots' 25-18 final set.

Only eight names are presented on the BL squad, but like Jackson, as Jackson put it, made a big difference on the pitch. In the first year of the program, the Scots ended 5-17 and dropped each of their six regional competitions.

“It didn't look too great from our first year,” said Jackson. “None of us really knew how to play volleyball. We took the time in summer to work in the gym and in the church, and it has become a team. Everyone played into the role and didn't try too much to do too much. “

BL returns to the 3-0 record on Friday afternoon

Ben Lomond, coach Chelsye Saulsberry, showed the voices of her player or the willingness to use her on the pitch for her second season when he was asked about the early success of the Scots.

“You have learned when you listen and when to turn off,” said Saulberry.

“You invested the work to know what happens and understand what to do,” continued Saulsberry. “We did much better with our beating and playing with chemistry. That was the greatest thing we missed last year. “

Jackson heard with Bear River during the third set when the bears dragged things into a fourth sentence by Joseph Bauer's Match-Point-Kill and prevent the Scots from a sweep.

“I just told them every time:” Keep it up, we don't lose, “said Jackson.

The second street test of the BL of the season will be found against a Clarfield team (0-1) on Friday, which is fresh from a five-set loss at Syracuse. It will be the first of four other region games for the Scots before he organizes Grantsville on March 25th.
