Youtubers examined a deep papal video from the Presidential couple

The South Korean police announced on Thursday that they are investigating two YouTubers that are accused of producing and showing a fake video by President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon Hee with Deepfke technology.

The two are suspected of having violated the special cases in relation to the punishment, etc. of sexual crimes, especially in Article 14-2, after the distribution of produced video material, according to the cybercrime investigation unit of the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency. The video in question allegedly contained sexually humiliating content about the country's first pair.

The video was shown on May 18 on May 18 in Dong-Gu, Gwangju, on February 15 near the position where a protest was called to request Yoon's survey. The President is currently undergoing office and criminal proceedings for uprising and abuse of power in connection with his declaration on war law of December 3.

The authorities found that the issue of the problematic video was not associated with the organizers of the anti-yoon protest.

The person who played the video is based in the province of Gyeonggi, while the person who is suspected of living the video in overseas. The police are planning to carry out a legal review of the case before the suspects are asked to interview.

The incident triggered outrage throughout the country, especially for supporters of the conservative president. In a declaration published on February 16, the Presidential Office “described an obvious insult and a serious violation of human rights” and submitted criminal charges against the suspects.

According to the law, a person who synthesized or processed a photo, a video or audio recording of a person can be punished in a form that can “cause sexual desire or shame against the person's will”, with a prison sentence of up to five years or a fine of 50 million WON ($ 34,800).
