Yuma Border Patrol Report's record depth Fears in the middle of new guidelines

Yuma, AZ (Azfamily) – The US Border Patrol Yuma sector only reported a concern on Tuesday, as the fears on the southern border have reached its lowest level for years.

Before President Donald Trump took office, Yuma saw around 40 fears a day, but now this number is almost zero.

One of the biggest changes along the Yuma border is the removal of a tent and portable toilets that were once used by asylum seekers.

They were positioned in one place where migrants usually cross through a gap in the border to the USA and then result in the border patrol.

“We just don't have the need for this resource anymore,” said Justin de La Torre, head of the Yuma Border Patrol.

De La Torre said the agents have changed their focus.

“Agents can spend their time looking for threats and looking for violations of the federal law,” he said. “If we have a day when there is no detection of illegal entries, that's a very good thing.”

In February the fears of the US border patrol along the southern border fell to 8,300, which was a sharp decline in 189,900 in the same month of last year; It is a decline of 95%that de la Torre is attributed to the termination of the catch and release of President Trump.

“In the past we have published it until a court hearing. Now we use the accelerated procedure to return it, ”said de la Torre.

One of Trump's biggest campaigns was to stop the fentany river across the southern border by threatening the tariffs on Mexico as soon as he took office if they had not taken any measures.

“The leadership in Washington, DC, was able to influence other countries in order to resume their nationals, which was not always the case,” said de la Torre.

With regard to border security, de la Torre believes that the USA is moving in the right direction.

“Border security in Yuma, the city of Yuma, Yuma County, has an impact on the whole country,” he said.

He said that most undocumented people who enter the United States through Yuma drive north into the interior of the country.

“We have a number of lawful paths where people come to the United States. If people come here and want to work here, there is a mechanism to do this. We want you to make it legal, ”he said.

The paths to which de la Torre refers

There is currently no legal way for migrants on the board to search for asylum.
