Zimmerman's legislative template that extends the use of fire protection districts changes to the Senate – WRBI -Radio

State representative Alex Zimmerman (R-North Vernon).

(Statehouse)-State Rep. Alex Zimmmans (R-North Vernon) draft law that enables fire protection districts to provide medical emergency services from the house.

Zimmerman said that fire protection districts, which can be formed by local governments, were formed to ensure fire protection and prevention measures in their communities.

However, some fire protection districts want to offer EMS services in order to meet a poor need for services, but cannot do so in accordance with applicable law.

Zimmerman said this law enables fire protection districts, EMS services as well as fire protection and prevention services to provide if the district should choose.

“Fire protection districts are of crucial importance for the security of Indiana, and this legislation enables them to expand services to help more Hoosiers,” said Zimmerman. “Including medical emergency services can fill out the local emergency insurance and keep our communities safer.”

House Bill 1113 is now going to the Senate for further examination.
